Media interaction without bottlenecks
Interactive SMS voting services often fail to deliver on their promises. Due to the large influx of SMS traffic, the SMS infrastucture becomes congested and the quality of service goes down dramatically. Expanding the number of SMSCs is not cost-effective, and often not the solution; what is required is a more intelligent routing infrastructure in your SMS network.
The diagram shows the normal SMS MO traffic, a typical voting peak, as well as the maximum SMS capacity of the network. A voting or interactive SMS peak is usually very short, but when it exceeds the SMS capacity, it causes congestion on the SMSCs for all SMS traffic. This is usually followed by a period of unacceptably low Quality of Service (QoS) for the entire Short Message Service.
